Joe Neri

& Blues Dawg

A Rockin' Blues Band

Joe traces his musical roots to Greenwich Village, where he bought his first guitar in the early 60’s during the folk music revival of the time. Virtually weaned on early rock ‘n’ roll and rhythm & blues, he became a student of American roots music and has devoted much of his musical life to the genre.

Joe performs throughout Arizona, as a solo acoustic act as well as with his electric blues band, Blues Dawg. He is a member of the board of directors of the Northern Arizona Blues Alliance.

Blues Dawg
Blues Dawg is a contemporary electric blues band, steeped in the traditions of American blues and roots music. Its repertoire consists of both originals and covers, greatly influenced by the blues legends and masters of Chicago, Memphis, Texas and California. Joe handles the vocals and guitar work, with Bo Wilson on lead guitar, Hutch Hutchinson on bass and Gino Romeo on drums.

Monthly Blues Jam

Joe Neri and Blues Dawg host a monthly blues jam session on the third Thursday of every month at Main Stage in Cottonwood, from 7 to 10 pm.

These are true jam sessions, not open mics. Musicians just need to bring their own gear, and can play as long as they like. All musicians and all instruments are welcome.

Old Town Blues Fest

Joe founded and hosts the annual Old Town Blues Fest, held every Spring at the Old Town Center for the Arts in Cottonwood. This all-day, indoor blues festival attracts national, regional and local musicians and bands to celebrate the blues.

The 5th annul Old Town Blues Fest was held on Saturday, March 28, 2015, featuring the Old Town Blues Fest All-Star Band, the Mother Road Trio, J.C. & the Juke Rockers, Sweet Baby Ray with Scott Spenner, and the Jim Glass Band.

Bob Dylan Birthday Concert

Joe and Bob share the same birthday – May 24 – different years (and very different astrological charts!). And, Joe has been a huge fan of Dylan and his music since he first heard it in 1962. And he’s one of hundreds of millions of Bob Dylan fans.

Since 2006, Joe has produced the annual Bob Dylan Birthday Concert, held on or around Joe’s and Bob’s birthday, with some of the best musicians in Northern Arizona performing Dylan songs. It has become so popular that in 2012, Joe began having two concerts on two consecutive nights.

The 10th annual Bob Dylan Birthday Concert was held on Friday and Saturday, May 22 and 23, 2015.
